ABC Family breaks records with Secret Life of The American Teenager debut
The debut of ABC Family’s Secret Life of The American Teenager premiere on Tuesday, July 1 broke a record by taking in 2.8 million viewers, the most for any show premiering on the network.
According to Media Week, the show was the highest rated original series in the networks’ history in households, adults 18-34, adults 18-49 and viewers 12-34. It also placed the show first in the time period in all basic cable.
Secret Life of the American Teenager from creator Brenda Hampton (7th Heaven) stars Shailene Woodley as 15-year-old Amy Juergens, who discovers she is pregnant. The show also stars Molly Ringwald, Josie Bissett and John Schneider.
