Benjamin Bratt’s The Cleaner drama on A&E renewed

Since watching the season finale on A&E a few weeks ago, I’ve had my fingers crossed that Benjamin Bratt’s new drama The Cleaner would get renewed for a second season.
My wish came true today as Bob DeBitetto, President and General Manager of A&E Network and Bio Channel, announced that there will be a 13-episode second season.
Now I don’t have to worry about the series ending with Bratt’s character leaving his family and team after his wife Melissa (Amy Price-Francis) announces they need some time apart — throwing his life in major crisis status.
As A&E’s first scripted series in more than six years, The Cleaner will go into production shortly with all-new episodes slated to premiere sometime in 2009.
In its first season, The Cleaner averaged 4.2 million total viewers, 2.4 million adults 25-54 and 2.2 million adults 18-49 in primetime.
The Cleaner has become A&E’s number one original drama in network history among adults 18-49 and 25-54, roughly doubling the audience of the previous two series (Nero Wolfe and 100 Centre Street) in those demos. Go Benjamin Bratt!

The Cleaner is inspired by the true story of real life extreme interventionist Warren Boyd. Bratt stars as William "The Cleaner" Banks, who after hitting rock-bottom from his own drug addiction after the birth of his daughter, strikes a deal with God. In exchange for a second chance with his family, he vows to kick his addictions and dedicate his life to helping others.
William Banks and his team help people from all sorts of addictions clean by any means necessary. On his team are Swenton (Esteban Powell), Akani (Grace Park) and Darnell (Kevin Michael Richardson).
The Cleaner is produced by CBS Paramount Television in association with Once A Frog Productions for A&E Network.

A&E Network has two other original dramas in the works: The Beast starring Patrick Swayze and Leverage with Timothy Hutton.
That show sucks, I was hoping it’d get cancelled. The Beast is a waaaaay better show.

As I am writing this The Cleaner is on and I love this show,watched last season. I think anyone who doesn’t like it most have some problem with addiction and can’t watch because it hits to close to home.
