Fox has pushed back its fall season one week to Sept. 1 with a handful of two-hour premieres for many of its returning shows (Prison Break, Bones, The Moment of Truth and Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?). But those waiting for Fox’s new shows Fringe and Do Not Disturb will have to wait until the week of Sept. 9.
A two-hour premiere for the new sci-fi thriller Fringe from writers and executive producers J.J. Abrams (Lost), Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek, Mission Impossible III, Alias) will debut Tuesday, Sept. 9 from 8 to 10 p.m. ET/PT.
Directed by Alex Graves (West Wings, Journeyman), Fringe stars Joshua Jackson (Dawson’s Creek), Australian newcomer Anna Torv and John Noble (The Lord of the Rings) as an unlikely trio who uncovers deadly mystery involving a series of unbelievable events and learn it may be part of a larger pattern that blurs the line between science fiction and technology — on the fringe of science.
In the pilot which was reportedly budgeted at $10 million, FBI agent Olivia Dunham (Torv) is called in to investigate when an international flight lands in Boston and the passengers and crew all have died grisly deaths. After her partner, special agent John Scott (Mark Valley) is nearly killed, Olivia searches for someone to help, which leads her to Dr. Walter Bishop (Noble). Only the brilliant Bishop has been institutionalized for the last 20 years and the only way to get to him is through the help of his estranged son Peter (Jackson).
The new workplace comedy Do Not Disturb starring Jerry O’Connell (Crossing Jordan) and Niecy Nash (Reno 911) as the management team behind one of New York City’s hippest hotels will debut on Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 9:30 to 10 p.m. ET/PT.
The hotel’s reputation and sophisticated look is due in part to detail-oriented Neal (O’Connell), although The Inn’s owner R.J. (guest star Robert Wagner) takes all of the credit. Rhonda (Nash) is the brash head of Human Resources who keeps Neal in check while keeping everyone in line with her own rules.
