“Gossip Girl” Gets Prequel Spin-Off

The CW has announced that a pilot episode for the Gossip Girl spin-off series will be shot! The spin-off series, created by Gossip Girl producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, will be a prequel, focusing on the life of Serena’s mother, Lily Van Der Woodsen.

The potential new series will focus on Lily as a troubled teenager in the 80s in LA. The pilot has not been cast (since it’s a prequel, it will be a whole new cast) and is still untitled. They hope to cast and shoot the pilot for air on May 11, 2009 in place of a regular Gossip Girl episode. Read more about this here.
