Modern Family still funny

A lot of times new shows seems so good in the beginning, but as you watch more episodes, the show doesn’t seem to have it’s original “punch” that made it special. But I can’t say that about ABC’s new comedy Modern Family.

While I haven’t watched every episode, I just watched the latest episode “Fizbo” which aired on Wednesday. I’ve been trying to catch up on the TV shows I’ve missed while shows are taking a break for the holidays.

The “Fizbo” episode is so funny. Phil and Claire want to throw their son Luke the best birthday party ever. But their ideas are totally in the opposite direction.

Meanwhile, Cameron wants to dress up as Fizbo the clown as Luke’s birthday present. This doesn’t thrill Mitchell, but Fizbo the clown does turn into a bad-ass to protect his boyfriend in a funny gas station scene. Oh, and someone in the family has a secret fear of clowns, which makes the episode pretty

Jay wants to give Luke a cross bow for his birthday. Let’s hope he doesn’t shoot anyone’s eye out. Haley becomes jealous when she sees her dumb boyfriend seem to have the hots for the twenty-something trainer that brings the reptiles to the birthday party.

The very first minute of the episode, we know that Luke end ed up in the emergency room on his birthday. The question is how did he end up there? Was it the cross bow, the scorpion escapee (the scariest for me), or something else. When the chaos finally hits, it’s freakin’ ridiculously funny.

And even when you think the whole thing is over, the last few minutes is funny too. I don’t know how many times I laugh out loud when this show is on.

Modern Family stars Ed O’Neill as Jay Pritchett, Julie Bowen as Claire Dunphy, Ty Burrell as Phil Dunphy, Sof’a Vergara as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Mitchell Pritchett, Eric Stonestreet as Cameron, Sarah Hyland as Haley Dunphy, Nolan Gould as Luke Dunphy, Ariel Winter as Alex Dunphy and Rico Rodriguez as Manny Delgado.

New episodes of Modern Family airs on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.  Repeats of Modern Family are airing on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. as well.
