NBC has released an extended preview of its new epic drama Kings about a modern day monarchy.

The drama stars Ian McShane from Deadwood as King Silas Benjamin, king of Gilboa, whose flag bears a butterfly symbol.

Chris Egan from Eragon stars as a young soldier David Shepherd who defies orders and crosses enemy lines to save several prisoners of war, including the king’s son Jack Benjamin (Sebastian Stan, Gossip Girl) – changing his life forever as the king now feels indebted to him.

From executive producer Michael Green (NBC’s Heroes), Kings is a contemporary re-telling of the timeless tale of David and Goliath. This series is an epic story of greed and power, war and romance, forbidden loves and secret alliances — and a young hero who rises to power in a modern-day kingdom.

Kings premieres Sunday, March 15 at 8/7 CST on NBC.
