Sexy drama MVP starts on SOAPnet

The Great Blog Off

SOAPnet premiered its new original series MVP Thursday night, following the on and off-the-ice drama surrounding the Canadian Mustangs hockey team and the women in their lives.

A total of 10 one-hour scripted episodes will air on Thursdays at 11 p.m. ET on SOAPnet.

The series touches on the hockey players living life with instant wealth, tabloid celebrity, and dealing with their girlfriends and wives. In the first episode, the star player dies of an overdose, turning the hockey team upside down and leaving his family in financial ruin. The team owner grabs up the number one draft pick, Trevor Lemonde from a rural community. The new captain Gabe is courting a daycare teacher who is wary of his lifestyle, while another player Damon is haunted by his dead wife and child, but is taping the women he sleeps with (at least until he gets caught). From the preview, it looks like the show is about "how to sleep with hockey players" from all the action that is going on.

The cast stars Lucas Bryant (Gabe McCall), Dillon Casey (Trevor Lemonde), Mathew Bennett (Malcom LeBlanc), Peter Miller (Damon Trebuchet), Kristin Booth (Connie Lewis) Anastasia Phillips (Tabbi Schnaare), Deborah Odell (Evelyn McBride), Natalie Krill (Molly McBride) and Olivia Waldriff (Grace Morris).

“MVP is an intense drama with a great cast and interesting stories,” said Brian Frons, president, Daytime, Disney-ABC Television Group in a SOAPnet press release about the new series. “Our record-breaking success with ‘General Hospital: Night Shift” last year reinforces that our viewers have an insatiable appetite for serialized drama. ‘MVP’ is the  next series to fill that need.”

I love this show–sorry to hear the CBC canceled it. Will there be any more shows produced after the current 10?

AWESOME show…the show keeps getting better and better, and guys keep getting hotter. The story lines are great.

    It’s funny, it’s sad, it’s crazy, and it’s drama!

I’m so hooked now, and believe me I’m not the only one. Once you start you can’t stop…
