The CW starting fall season Sept. 1
Starting relatively early compared to the other networks, The CW will begin its fall 2008-09 season on Sept. 1 with the successful drama block of Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill.
The CW Network announced its fall premiere dates over the weekend at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour.
The super-hyped new spin-off 90210 featuring Beverly Hills, 90210 originals Jennie Garth, Shannen Doherty, Tori Spelling and Joe E. Tata, will make its debut as a two-hour event on Tuesday, Sept. 2 from 7 to 9 p.m. CST. Considered an edgy interpretation of the 1990s drama, the new 90210 also includes a dynamic cast of up-and-coming young stars and familiar faces such as Lori Laughlin (Summerland) and Jessica Walter (Arrested Development).
The CW’s new drama Privileged (previously called Surviving the Filthy Rich) will debut the following week on Tuesday, Sept. 9 (8 to 9 p.m. CST). The series is based on the best-selling book “How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls” by Zoe Dean. JoAnna Garcia (Reba) stars as the live-in tutor to wild and wealthy teen twin girls in Palm Beach.
On Wednesday, Sept. 3, The CW will continue its premieres with the network’s hit America’s Next Top Model from 7 to 9 p.m. On Oct. 29, The CW’s new reality series Stylista (8 to 9 p.m. CST) will start. From the creators of America’s Next Top Model and Project Runway, Stylista is “The Devil Wears Prada” turned into a reality series. The show features Elle magazine’s fashion news director Anne Slowey and creative director Joe Zee. With weekly challenges that would make most of us cringe, 11 fashion hopefuls will vie for a coveted editorial job and prizes.
Other premieres on The CW include: Smallville and Supernatural on Sept. 18; Everybody Hates Chris and The Game on Oct. 3, followed by an encore of America’s Next Top Model.
Premiere dates and times for The CW’s returning drama Reaper and new reality series 13 — Fear is Real will be announced at a later date.
