TNT gives George Clooney pilot greenlight

October 27, 2009 by Cheril Vernon

91018M1_CLOONEY_B-GR_15-george-clooneyTNT has greenlighted a drama pilot executively produced by George Clooney.

The pilot, Delta Blues, centers on an outstanding but unusual Memphis cop who moonlights as an Elvis impersonator and lives with his mother, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Delta Blues, from Clooney and Grant Heslov’s Smokehouse Pictures and Warner Horizon, was written by Liz Garcia (Cold Case) and Josh Harton, according to THR.

Clooney, Heslov, Garcia and Harto are executive producing the pilot. Smokehouse’s Abby Wolf-Weiss also is expected to receive a producing credit, THR said.

Delta Force was originally put in development at TNT about a year and a half ago and was included in TNT’s development slate during its May 2008 upfront presentation, according to THR.

TNT recently picked up Rizzoli, a crime pilot produced by Warner Horizon starring Angie Harmon, according to THR.

I hope TNT doesn’t forget about Southland, the cop show NBC dropped a week before its second-season debut. Many fans, including me, are hoping TNT will pick it up.
