True Blood coming out of coffin on HBO
September 5, 2008 by Cheril Vernon
Lucky for us, scientists have invented synthetic blood, so humans are no longer on the “required” menu for vampires, according to HBO series premise True Blood, which will premiere on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET
Though they no longer have to hide their identity, many people are still apprehensive about the integration of vampires in society, but in the small town of Bon Temps in northern Louisiana, the jury is still out.
Saucy waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) knows how it feels to be an outcast. She’s telepathic (has the ability — or curse — to hear other people’s thoughts).
But when handsome and single vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) walks into the café (the first vampire she has ever met), for once she can’t read his thoughts, which intrigues her.
True Blood, a sexy, scary new drama from Six Feet Under creator Alan Ball (American Beauty), is based on Charlaine Harris’ southern vampire books.
Early reviews of the show have been mixed, but in this case I would like to judge for myself.
For those who love vampire/sci-fi stories, what do you think? Will you watch? Moonlight fans, will True Blood get your attention?

I saw a preview of the first episode and had mixed feelings. I was surprised by the level of nudity and graphic sexual situations (and here I was watching with my teenager walking around the house!) I thought I wouldn’t like it but I got kinda hooked. We’ll see, we’ll see.
